Out of Hours Typing Ltd. is a company based in Somerset offering digital dictation transcription and other services. Work received by 9 p.m. is returned to you via email by 12 noon the next working day. We also work weekends at no extra cost.

Primarily digital dictation transcription

Typing backlogs will be a thing of the past! No reliance on permanent in-house staff and all the potential problems that entails! Staff overheads are dramatically reduced, if not eliminated!

We use a wide range of security measures to secure and protect our systems. Our modus operandi is fully Data Protection Act compliant.

Additional Services

If you have already typed documents (without any manuscript amendments) these can be scanned, sent to us and we can convert them into Word documents for you to amend as necessary. For surveyor clients we are experienced in using the RICS Survey Writer program as well as the new Homebuyers Report.

Equipment and How To

If you are new to digital dictation and do not have in-house IT support, our affiliated IT support team (SwiftTec - www.swifttec.co.uk) will be pleased to hook up remotely to your computer to talk you through any problems or technical issues.

We can recommend an Olympus VN-5500PC Digital Voice Recorder available from Amazon for slightly under £40. Although not expensive, the sound quality is excellent and it is perfectly adequate.  We have also road-tested the Olympus VN-8500PC (about £45 on Amazon) and can confirm it is very user friendly with excellent sound quality

If you already have digital dictation you can email the voice files to us as ordinary Outlook email attachments. We download the files, transcribe them and return the typed work to you the next day. Your files are guaranteed to be received.

If you need to send us voluminous voice files (in excess of approximately 4MB) please use our secure uploading facility rather than email.

Our secure uploading facility uses 128-bit SSL encryption to keep your dictation files secure whilst being transferred to us for dictation.

Costs

Charges are based on £1.10 per dictation minute and no VAT is payable. You are charged per dictation minute, not the amount of time we spend transcribing the work. There is no minimum contract. The charges approximate to about £15 per hour as a competent typist can transcribe 15 dictation minutes in an hour.
